When Disaster Strikes. Do You Have a Plan?

Personally, I wouldn’t try getting anywhere without proper protection. By that, I mean guns and ammo and lots of them. I’ll tell you right now, if that offends you, you probably should stop reading my blog because I’m all about a decent arsenal.

As you know if you’ve been reading my blog, I’ve been thinking about preparedness and self-sufficiency a lot. This morning I’m zoning in on my kids, who all live 1.5 to 5 hours away. What if there was some sort of national emergency or disaster? How would I know that they were okay? How would they get home if they needed to? What if we needed to get to them? Are they thinking about preparedness? Do they have a plan? Food, water, alternate heat source, supplies, extra fuel? How do you go about broaching the subject with your adult children without coming across as paranoid or flat out crazy? Lucky for me, my children are all outdoorsy survivalist types to begin with, so I have it easier than most I’m assuming.

My thoughts are that everyone will find a way home because we will ultimately have everything here that everyone will need. I am worried that with the distance that they would need to travel it might get tricky. That’s where individual travel plans come in handy. Real maps and a compass will probably be necessary. Knowing the route each group will take is crucial. I would avoid bridges where possible, even if it means adding time and miles to the journey. You might not realize if the structure has been compromised for one and secondly, you could get trapped or bottle-necked into a situation you don’t want to be in.

Avoiding major cities is a good idea too. Stick to the less traveled, less populated areas where you can. People will start going crazy, once the realization of what is happening hits them, so will the panic. I don’t imagine it will take long for that to happen. Personally, I wouldn’t try getting anywhere without proper protection. By that, I mean guns and ammo and lots of them. I’ll tell you right now, if that offends you, you probably should stop reading my blog because I’m all about a decent arsenal. I’ll do another blog post soon about that topic. My favorite brands and models and why.

I also recommend not trusting anyone you don’t know. I know that may sound somewhat paranoid but think about it. Most people are going to go into fight or flight mode and if you have something they need, they’re not going to give you a second thought to get it. Avoiding people at all costs would be my main goal in a situation like that. Get where you’re going as quick as possible but get there in one piece. Being prepared for anything is critical, and we’ll talk about bug out bags in another post, coming soon.

The purpose of this post is to get people thinking, researching and planning how they would react to an emergency or disaster situation. Don’t be afraid to talk to your family about it, you might be surprised to find out it’s been on their minds too. The way the world is now days it’s highly probable that some sort of crazy is going to happen at some point in the not so distant future. I’m trying to keep my post short and simple for now. I’m working on a more in depth article on this topic to be published soon. If you have any questions or comments feel free to voice them.

Have a wonderful day!

That Prepper Life

I’m also looking into hydroponics as a means to grow food throughout the winter months and solar energy to keep everything running if power goes out.

I’ve always had the prepper mentality, even when I was a kid. My parents always talked about the end times but never done anything to prepare for it. In spite of living on a 5 acre small farm, we struggled most of the time. Me though, I had a shoe box full of small toys that I was saving for “end times”. The ones you get in a happy meal, still in packages to give to my siblings on occasion when life as we knew it ceased to exist. According to my dad, that time was soon approaching. It’s pretty much all he talked about, to the point of giving me nightmares and anxiety. Nothingever happened.

As an adult, I always make sure we have at least 2 weeks worth of food in the pantry at all times, most of the time it’s closer to 2 months worth. With everything going on in the world today, I’ve decided to up my game and take it a little farther. I’m creating a “Pantry” binder complete with inventory, serving sizes, recipes, etc.. I’m researching water filtration systems and stocking up on other essential items like toiletries and medical/first aid supplies. I’m also looking into hydroponics as a means to grow food throughout the winter months and solar energy to keep everything running if power goes out.

I’ve created lists of supplies to buy, supplies we already have, research subjects, bug out bag items, list of suppliers, emergency plan for family not living at home, etc.. It’s always been my philosophy to prepare for the worse, hope for the best. I plan on printing out vital information on topics such as wound suturing, how to build a snare, edible/medicinal plants, etc. and create binders for those. I want to be knowledgeable if shtf. I’m now a stay at home wife, so I have a lot of time on my hands to do this, thankfully.

I’d be interested in like-minded individuals to bounce ideas and information off of. You can find me @Janeway0768 on Twitter.

Do Your Own Research

I could tell you about the deep state and the cabal here but I will leave that to another time.

Everyone has an opinion. Everyone is entitled to that opinion. Unless, you’re a liberal. In that case everyone is entitled to an opinion until it’s not the same as theirs.

I find it funny, if not downright hilarious. I don’t care what the subject is, it doesn’t matter, all it takes is one person stating a difference and BOOM. Shit hits the fan. I have to admit that sometimes, I can’t help myself and have to make comment to amuse myself. It’s actually scary to see where the world is going and what kind of people exist in it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m interested in other people’s opinions and views, I know that I’m not right 100% of the time; no one is. Give me solid proof and a good reason and you may change my mind about something, who knows.

I have found that a lot of people shy away from free thinkers. Those who don’t watch main stream media and seek the truth. I’m one of those people. Believe it or not, there are sources out there that are more reliable than what they put on TV for the masses. Some MSM stations are worse than others, but they all distort the truth and some of them ignore it altogether. Yet, people follow them and believe every word, hook, line and sinker, without a second thought.

I would like to encourage you to step away from the television for a minute. Choose a topic you think could have a different story and research it for yourself. No, not Snopes, proven to be grotesquely misleading. Don’t look at one site, Do your research without limiting yourself to one political party. Keep your mind open. Personally, I like to find actual video clips of what people supposedly said. A lot of times they’ve been misquoted, sometimes they’ve said nothing even close to what was reported and sometimes, the information is correct. I’m one who wants to see and hear it for myself before I take stock in it.

Social media is not a good place to find out about world events. Why? Because too many memes are going around that are supposed to be funny and people take them as fact. The dumbing down of America, is what I call it and I’m pretty sure it’s not an accident. I could tell you about the deep state and the cabal here but I will leave that to another time.

Have a great weekend!

Just Vote

Please people, WAKE UP!!!!

It scares the hell out of me that people don’t have the foresight or even care to watch the news and keep up with current political events. If you’ve been paying real attention to what’s going on you’d be just as terrified as I am about the mid terms, about our country and it’s future.

We are already in a civil war; media, dems and the deep state VS Trump and the republican patriots. I know there are people shaking their heads because they can’t see it. They can’t see it because they don’t want to and it’s sad. More than sad, it is downright frightening.

We need Kavanaugh so we can finally get things cleaned up! If you have watched any of the hearings you know exactly what I mean. Take a look at Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz interviews for starters…

Please people, WAKE UP!!!!

I hope you vote RED but please just vote!!!!
